Just Bumpin
Before You Bump: Caviar FYI
Your burning caviar questions, answered.
All fish have roe (eggs). Only the roe from one specific type of fish – sturgeon – is considered true caviar. Roe from all other types of fish (salmon, whitefish, trout) is well…just roe, *not* true caviar.
- Fun fact: caviar hasn’t always been considered a luxury treat. It’s a long story, but the bottom line is that the price of caviar is most influenced by two things: the costs associated with high-quality, sustainable farming & harvesting of sturgeon and its limited supply globally.
- So the spendier, the better – right? Not necessarily. Quality caviar exists today at a range of prices. And remember, two different people can (and often do) prefer two totally different types of cavi. That’s because everyone’s palate is unique. Tasting is believing; explore a few varieties, you might be surprised to learn your favorite caviar might not be the most expensive one on the table.
Tuck your tin into the coldest part of your fridge (never the freezer!) and let it chill like the VIP it is; unopened, it’ll stay perfectly dreamy for 4-5 weeks until you’re ready to indulge. Once you pop it open, treat it like a special guest and enjoy it within 2-3 days for peak flavor and freshness.
Not sure why you’d ever have any leftover caviar (somehow we always eat ours all up), but here’s what you should do:
- Tear a small piece of plastic wrap and press it gently over the surface of the remaining caviar. Close the tin with the original lid and then store back in that deep, dark corner of your fridge.

Tips + Faqs
Our caviar is fresh, naturally preserved (just 3.5% salt), and vacuum-sealed to lock in that perfect pop. Unopened, it’ll stay dreamy for up to 4 weeks in your fridge, tucked in the back where it’s coldest. Once you pop the tin, enjoy the rest within 2–3 days for peak flavor and texture. And one last thing: never freeze your caviar. Keep it chill, never icy. 🩵💭✨
You don’t need anything fancy, just something that keeps the flavor pure. Metal reacts with caviar (and nobody wants that), so reach for non-reactive materials instead. We’re partial to a classic mother-of-pearl spoon – find one in our Supplies + Snacks – but wood or plastic works in a pinch. The goal? Let the caviar shine. 🩵💭✨
Yes, Dreamers – we’ve got you. ✨ All of our caviar is naturally gluten-free, and our pantry’s stocked with GF-friendly snacks like baked potato chips and crackers to keep things crispy and chic. For our plant-based pals, we also offer vegan caviar made from seaweed. Because everyone deserves a seat (and a spoon) at the table. 🩵💭✨ #CaviarForThePeople
Opening your caviar tin is easy once you get the hang of it. ✨
- Position the Tin: Hold your caviar tin firmly in your non-dominant hand.
- Insert the Caviar Key: Take your caviar key and gently insert its flat edge between the lip of the tin's lid and the base.
- Twist to Release: Turn the key clockwise. You'll hear a soft pop as the vacuum seal releases, allowing the lid to lift effortlessly.
- Lift the Lid: Carefully remove the lid, revealing the glistening pearls within. ✨
- Serve Immediately: For the freshest experience, serve your caviar promptly. Remember, once opened, consume within 2–3 days.
